Awakening The Heart - Sowing Seeds of Kindness in our Yoga Practice with Lisa Kellighan, Saturday 1st August 2026
Org: Grampian Yoga Association
Date: Saturday, 1st August 2026
Time: 14.00 – 16.30hrs
Descr: Kindness and acceptance of others begins with kindness and acceptance of ourselves. This isn’t always easy! In this workshop we create space to slow down, and meet ourselves with curiosity and openness. Through movement, breath, and rest, we’ll connect with the heart space and explore what it feels like when the heart is open or closed. We will have a go at a full length ‘Metta’ meditation to see if we can extend this energy of kindness outwards to those in our lives and beyond. The session will include gentle movement, Yin yoga poses, and meditation in stillness, either seated or lying down. A chance to reconnect with yourself and nurture a kinder way of being. Essential equipment: Yoga mat, meditation cushion or block and blanket. Additional equipment (not essential but very nice): Bolster or firm cushion and 2x brick blocks
Venue: Cults Kirk Centre, 404 North Deeside Road, Cults, Aberdeen AB15 9TD
Fees: GYA members £32, non members £40

General Postures Workshop with Zoe Knott, Sunday 22nd November 2026
Org: Grampian Yoga Association
Date: Sunday, 22nd November 2026
Time: 10.00-16.00hrs
Descr:

I have lots of yoga days focusing on specifics but have more recently been asked for a Workshop where we look a little more deeply at the postures we experience in a general yoga class. We will consider

  1. Why we work in these poses.
  1. Stages to allow all abilities to progress safely.
  1. How to move in and out of postures in the safest way.

We will prepare for asana with specific techniques to stretch or strengthen relevant muscles.  The postures will be broken down and considered stage by stage.  You will all find a stage you can work with and be given a path on which you can progress forward.

The day is appropriate for teachers, student teachers and all practitioners looking to deepen their experience of asana.

Venue: Love Yoga Studio, 42 Union Terrace, Aberdeen AB10 1TP
Fees: GYA members £63, Non Members £75
